It’s going too fast…
I can’t believe how fast this year has gone! We have 30 days left and then your sweet kiddos will be official Kindergartners!
Jog-A-Thon Updates
Did you know:
- Everyone (online & onsite) students get a T-shirt for the Jog-A-Thon
- Everyone is welcome to run at school, even if you attend school online only. You also have the option to run virtually at home!
- Our goal is:
- Raise funds for our school. These funds are what give our students the opportunity to have extra enrichment and is a main reason why so many students and families wish to attend school here!
- Ask friends, neighbors, grandparents if they would be willing to participate in giving a flat donation or a price per lap to help our school! This year in particular has been a challenging year for our school.
- Have a lot of fun doing my favorite form of exercise!
- We are currently in 12th place for our donations! We are trying to raise $1390.00 and have raised 59% of our goal! If we get to the 100% mark we will have a “Healthy Ice Cream Party!”
- We have 100% registration! This means we all get a T-Shirt and a popsicle party!

This week we will have Distribution Pick Up/Drop off Days! This will work a little different as you will have 2 days to come by between certain hours to pick up your materials.
This is for Online Students Only
Please come by on Wednesday or Thursday of this week between 9:30 – 11:30. I will leave out a yellow wagon with the “Pick Up” Materials for your child. They will be labeled with your child’s name. There will also be a blue, rolling bucket to return your materials in.
Please return:
- Blue Folders
- Notebooks
- 10 Books
You will be Picking Up:
- 10 new books
- The remainder of the Alphabet books
- New May sight words
- New Scholastic News
- Returned Notebook
- Assessment Sheets
- Mother’s Day Zoom Kit (Fragile) – for Next Friday, May 7th @ 8:30am
Mother’s Day Zoom
NEXT Friday, May 7th from 8:30 – approximately 9:10 we will be having a Mommy & Me Zoom. You will be receiving a Mother’s Day Kit/package in a white bag for this zoom. You will need to supply: a permanent marker, a paintbrush or something to apply paint to your child’s hand…sponge, brush, etc (in a pinch you can use your finger or a paper towel to wipe it on their hand). The bag is fragile and has an item that is “crackable” so be careful with your bag. I will also warn the students.
- Online students will get their kit at Distribution Trade Day.
- Onsite students will get their kit sent home on Thursday, May 6th.
Hoping you all can make it!
Assessment Days
We are nearing the end of the year, which means our last reporting period is coming up in which we check progress of each student. To do this we will having assessment days. For onsite students I will be assessment them in class. Online students will receive a schedule in a week or two in which I will assess their understanding in certain areas. I’m so proud of each of these students and all the hard work they have done despite the challenges we faced!
Human Impact – STEAM
We have been learning and working our Human Impact – STEAM unit. We have been learning about trash, where it goes, and this week we started to learn about what the concept/vocabulary words “REUSE” and “UPCYCLE” mean. The students have been learning how we can reuse certain items more than one time and sometimes we can use it for something new! This week we will start to learn how we can create less trash. It’s a crazy concept to think about but one that will challenge the students how they can create less trash.
Below is a chart we started on Zoom and will begin next week in class. We were just getting to the concept of “reduce” when one student said “getting less” meaning get less of the items that make trash at the store and use more items that aren’t disposable.
Asynchronous Work
Whether you are online or onsite, please make sure you complete your asynchronous work:
- Math – ST Math or Happy Numbers
- Independent Reading – RAZ Kids or Book Bag or Get Epic
- WRITING – Assigned in Seesaw
- Seesaw – STEAM Seesaws will likely be given to do on Asynchronous Fridays.
- Sight Words – Play My Pile, Your Pile with Sight Word cards.
Anonymous Feedback Form
If you have feedback (positive or constructive) or ideas please take a moment to share your thoughts and feedback! I am loving getting to know the kids better and that they are getting to know each other better despite the challenges we don’t typically deal with! Anonymous Feedback Form
